Maximize Your Summer Break
With the semester wrapping up and summer in the forecast, it’s time to start thinking about summer break plans. Whether you’re looking to relax, go on some adventures, or get ahead for next semester, there’s plenty you can do to make the most of your time off. Here are some ideas to make this summer one to remember.
Hit the water
Nothing says summer like spending time in the water. Whether you’re swimming at the beach, fishing on a quiet morning, paddleboarding across a lake, or wakeboarding behind a boat, there are endless ways to cool off. If you’re feeling daring, try one of my favorite activities — cliff jumping, or whitewater rafting. No matter what, don’t forget sunscreen!
Go to concerts
Outdoor concerts and festivals are what summer is all about. Whether it’s a big-name artist or a local band playing at a park, there’s something special about live music in an outside venue. Get together with some friends and enjoy some music.
Get outside
Camping and hiking are classic summer activities, and for good reason. Whether you’re pitching a tent in the mountains or just hitting a local trail, getting outside is a great way to clear your head after a long semester. Even if you’re not a hardcore backpacker, a day hike with some good company and some good snacks can be just what you need to reset.
Take a road trip
A road trip is one of the best ways to escape the usual routine. Whether you’re cruising to a nearby city or going all-out across the country, it’s all about the journey. Pack some snacks, throw together a playlist, and explore somewhere new.
Get ahead
Summer can be for fun, but it’s also a chance to get ahead. Taking an online class can lighten your load for next semester, and landing an internship or summer job can help build your résumé (and your bank account). If you’re into self-improvement, look into certifications or skills that could give you an edge in your field. A little work now can pay off big later.
Make it count
However you decide to spend your summer, don’t let it just slip by. Whether you’re chasing adventure, making money, or just kicking back and enjoying the break, make sure you’re intentional with your time. After all, summer doesn’t last forever — make the most of it while it’s here!
