As graduation quickly approaches, many campus groups are having farewell events. The Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity held their send-off event, called “Suit and Tie with AKPsi” just before Finals Week. Joseph Malach, vice president of alumni relations for the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity, shares his thoughts on the event.

A night of good food, upbeat music, and great people — “Suit and Tie with AKPsi” was an ideal way to finish an exciting and successful year for the Alpha Iota colony of the Alpha Kappa Psi fraternity.

After only one semester of action, the colony showed how far it had progressed by providing the funds for the social committee to purchase more than enough food and beverages for all attending members and their dates.

Twenty-six club members attended the event and brought 15 dates unaffiliated with the organization, filling the Business House in Officer’s Circle at the University of Utah with well-dressed individuals in suits and dresses. Before dinner was served, the people in attendance grouped together for photos to showcase their attire and immortalize the night.

Next, dinner from Noodles & Company was open game for everyone; there was enough food to fill the plates of each person as many times as they liked, so no one was left hungry before Finals Week. Afterward, people hung out, conversed, took more photos, played ping-pong and all together had a great night of fraternal bonding.

Though AKPsi will have more events and meetings before the end of the year, this one was the send-off event and was an extreme success and a great example of what to expect as they move toward becoming a chapter next year.
