Alum from Day One
Did you know that the David Eccles School of Business considers students a part of the alumni network from the first day they start college? This is what we mean when we refer to our “Alum From Day One” mentality. As such, there are many ways for students to get involved including networking opportunities, career development, events and experiences connecting students and alumni, and more.
We hope you take advantage of all of the opportunities the David Eccles School of Business Alumni Network and the Alumni Relations and Development Office can offer you while still in college!
SMART Start is a program partnership between Business Career Services and the David Eccles Alumni Network. It provides undergraduate Eccles School students the opportunity to interact with alumni from across various fields of business and aims to provide current students with “flash mentoring” and the opportunity for students and alumni to engage in an organic approach to mentorship and networking.
ConnectU serves to connect our graduate students to the David Eccles Alumni Network. ConnectU participants receive mentoring from alumni through two annual networking socials, smaller student group events at local companies called Lunches with 12 and other graduate career initiatives.
Eccles Student Alumni Board
The Alumni Relations and Development Office sponsors the Eccles Student Alumni Board. As a board, they look to amplify awareness throughout the Eccles community regarding the importance of giving and involvement as both a student as well as an alum. The Eccles Student Alumni Board aims to empower Eccles students by directing programs, events, and resources including but not limited to the annual 1917-Minute Challenge, U Giving Day, donor thank-you call campaigns, and various student-alumni networking events. Eccles Student Alumni Board members receive a $250 per semester scholarship and a philanthropy cord at graduation.
The Eccles Student Alumni Board is currently looking for passionate, involved, and bright student leaders to apply for a position on our 2021-2022 board. Interested in joining? If you have any questions or want to learn more, email Monet Frank at email@example.com.
Eccles Alumni Forum Speaker Series
Each month during the semester, alumni from various professions and industries will speak on panels to share their experiences and insights and answer questions. These events are generously sponsored by O.C. Tanner and run by the David Eccles Alumni Network.
All students are strongly encouraged to attend forums even if they’re outside of your major. It is a great way to learn great industry and career knowledge, both in and out of your field, from esteemed alumni professionals!
Other Student & Alumni Events
The David Eccles Alumni Network currently has 10 alumni affinity networks that frequently host a variety of events and activities for both alumni and students. The goal of the alumni affinity networks is to connect the Eccles School community around shared experiences, interests, industries and identities.

Student Club Involvement
The Alumni Relations and Development Office is always willing to partner with student clubs and organizations. We can help with alumni speakers or other involvement as well as advertising your upcoming events to alumni. Clubs may also provide content to send in our newsletters that go out every second Tuesday of the month to alumni with at least one-week advance notice.
