Walter is a California native, born and raised in Sacramento. After high school, he moved down to the Los Angeles area and received his B.S. in Mathematics from Cal Poly Pomona in 2017. During his undergraduate career, he found his passion for working alongside other college students in various roles, including as an ambassador for the Kellogg Honors College and a student leader for campus ministry. It was these various positions that ultimately led him to pursue and earn an M.A. in Higher Education Leadership from Cal State Northridge (2020), in hopes to continue helping students realize and work towards their goals in college and afterwards.
Prior to coming to the University of Utah in 2023, Walter has worked in University Advancement at Cal Poly Pomona and in the Admissions office at Westminster. He is passionate about demystifying the college experience and helping break down barriers for first-generation and historically marginalized college students.
Outside of work, you can find Walter hammocking at Sugar House Park on a clear day, reading at his neighborhood coffee shop, or perusing the local farmer’s market – all while either listening to a true crime podcast or belting out Taylor Swift songs in between destinations.
