Jake is a Michigan native and started working at the University of Utah with the Office of the Registrar when he moved to Utah in 2016. He began his advising career with the Academic Advising Center in October 2017. Prior to joining the Undergraduate Advising Service team, Jake led advising programs, initiatives, and teams focusing on academic standards, international student education, Social and Behavioral Science majors, and campus-wide advising technology implementation.
Jake earned his Bachelor’s degree in Broadcast and Cinematic Arts from Central Michigan University (2013) and an M.Ed. in Educational Psychology with an emphasis in Instructional Design and Educational Technology from the U (2021). Jake has a passion for using his knowledge of university policy to advocate for students and help them navigate the complexities of higher education.
When he’s not working, Jake enjoys spending time with family, cooking for large groups of friends, smoking meats, traveling with his wife, skiing, biking, hiking, and camping!
