Innovation in Action as Eccles Students Take on Salesforce IDEAthon 2025
The Salesforce IDEAthon 2025 at the David Eccles School of Business proved once again that innovation thrives where technology meets teamwork. The competition kicked off on Sep. 18, when students gathered for a hands-on Salesforce workshop and the launch of this year’s business case. Teams then had one week to build and present a fully functional CRM solution to address a real-world challenge: transforming the University of Utah Athletics Department’s athlete recruiting workflow. Dean Dirks encourages Opportunity Scholars to find and forge mentor relationships
Mentorship is a fundamental component of the Opportunity Scholars, a program dedicated to supporting the educational experiences of first-generation students at the David Eccles School of Business. Kurt Dirks, dean of the Eccles School and keynote speaker at the most recent Opportunity Scholars Speaker Event, noted that as a first-generation college graduate himself, he knows just how transformative having mentors can be. Rohit Aggarwal honored as Eccles School’s inaugural ‘Researcher of the Month’
Rohit Aggarwal, a professor in the Department of Operations and Information Systems as well as a David Eccles Emerging Scholar, has been selected as the David Eccles School of Business’s “Researcher of the Month” for October 2025. Professor Aggarwal joined the University of Utah as an assistant professor in 2008, after earning his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. He subsequently earned associate professor status in 2015 and became a full professor in 2023.
