5 Ways to Start your Semester off Strong
A new semester can mean new routines and class schedules. To ensure a successful Spring 2025 semester, here is a quick guide to start the semester off strong!
1) Class Schedules
Make sure to check your class schedule before the semester starts to ensure you know where the classroom each room is located. The Undergraduate Academic Advising office is holding drop-in hours the first week of class, Jan. 6-10, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. Stop by the SFEBB 1st floor for any questions regarding your schedule or help with class changes – they’re happy to help!
2) Plan Ahead
Look at all your class syllabi early to get a sense of when assignments, projects, and exam due dates are. Schedule them in your calendar and set timelines for yourself to get them done. Be sure to block out some time to have study sessions to help create a better work and social life balance. This is a great way to set priorities and ensure everything is completed without any stress of a surprise deadline.
3) Build Relationships with Professors and Classmates
Try to build relationships with your professor during class or office hours. This is a great way to address any questions or concerns you may have about the course. It also helps to ask questions throughout the course on material that may be confusing. Engage with your fellow classmates to form study groups or collaborate on group projects. Getting to know your professors and peers early on can make a big difference!
4) Develop a Study Routine
Creating good habits is a great way to make sure you have an awesome start to the semester! Develop a good study routine that works for you. Staying consistent will help you retain information and help you prepare for assignments and exams. Be sure to balance your routine with healthy habits like eating well-balanced meals, getting enough sleep, and having time to relax with family and friends.
5) Set Goals
Lastly, it’s important to have clear goals for the semester. Create short-term and long-term goals that you hope to achieve during the semester. Whether it’s getting a certain grade, eating healthier, or learning a new skill, having clear goals will help you stay motivated and focused throughout the semester.
