Organizations are like human bodies. The healthier they are, the better they function; and healthy organizations contribute to healthy communities.

O.C. Tanner Company’s proven expertise demonstrates their understanding of the key elements that influence the health of an organization. The global employee recognition and engagement leader helps thousands of the world’s most respected companies accomplish and appreciate great work. O.C. Tanner promotes wellbeing, both in their product offering and within their company culture. As an organization, O. C. Tanner’s civic-minded principles include philanthropy, and this year the company has donated funds to help support the 2017 Games4Health Challenge.

“We are very happy to sponsor Games4Health,” said O.C. Tanner Senior Vice President and CTO Niel Nickolaisen. “At O.C. Tanner, we take pride in being active in the Utah community, and we enjoy being involved in a number of programs and initiatives at the University of Utah.”

In the Games4Health Challenge, the primary objective is to create a digital game or app that has the potential to lead users to better health outcomes. Within an organizational structure, games or apps that positively engage employees can contribute to healthy changes in behavior. “We have a passion for helping organizations improve employee engagement,” Nickolaisen emphasized. “Things like employee recognition and wellbeing drive engagement, and so our participation in the Games4Health Challenge closely aligns with our philosophy and the products and services we provide our clients.” Every bit of technology O.C. Tanner develops, every award they design, everything they do, helps people dream bigger and reach higher.

Chris Wasden, executive director Sorenson Center for Discovery & Innovation Executive recognizes the parallels between the function of the Games4Health Challenge and O.C Tanner’s mission. “Games4Health gives students around the world the chance to be innovators and drive positive, healthy change, an opportunity which syncs well with O.C. Tanner’s focus on innovation.”

This year’s Games4Health participation is anticipated to double, making this unique challenge the largest event of its kind in the world. Students will compete in six different Challenge Categories: Happy Fitness, Corporate Wellness, Clinical Health, Chronic Disease, Mental Wellbeing and Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality.
