Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl LI halftime show, contrary to many of the commercials this year, was not full of political statements and controversial messages. She began the show with “God Bless America” and “This Land is Your Land,” and then after jumping off of the roof began singing many of her greatest hits.

She did offer one political message, which could have been directed at the Vice President in the audience, in her song, “Born This Way.” Gaga changed the lyrics to “No matter gay, straight, or bi, Lesbian, transgendered life/I’m on the right track baby/I was born to survive.” Other than than that, the show was full of glitter, pop, dancing, and fun. Lady Gaga aimed to please.

The takeaway from Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl show is that you don’t always have to showcase your political views or beliefs, and in doing so you can still be powerful in bringing people together. Especially in a business world, where personal matters and beliefs should be left out of big decisions, Gaga made the choice to focus on unity and was beautiful and inspiring in doing so.
