Thousands of women stayed home from work on Wednesday in an attempt to show what a day without women would look like. Now hard data is backing up their point.

Fast Company created a great infographic that showed all of the ways in which a day without women would impact the economy — highlighting women’s contributions to the economy and how certain sectors would fare. The infographic’s author drew upon research from the Eccles School’s own Lyda Bigelow, associate professor of entrepreneurship and strategy.

The Day Without a Woman protest was held in conjunction with International Women’s Day, celebrated March 8. In addition to the thousands of women who stayed home, millions more who could not miss work chose to show solidarity by wearing red or not spending money for the day.
