Disagreement and conflict seem to be everywhere we look. Heated tempers hijack productive conversations, preventing understanding and resolution. At the other extreme, staying silent or feeling unsafe to express an honest opinion makes productive problem-solving impossible.

Mental health challenges affect 1 in 5 adults annually, with 1 in 20 facing serious mental illness. The statistics are even more troubling for marginalized groups and vulnerable populations such as racial/ethnic minorities, veterans, LGTBQ+ individuals, and rural communities.
