Apply for Upper Division
While enrolled in their final semester of pre-business coursers, students can apply for Upper Division. Admission to Upper Division is competitive and based on total GPA and Business GPAs. If admitted to Upper Division, the student will be declared as a Business Administration BS major. Students wishing to be admitted to one of our other business majors must submit a second application after completing major specific prerequisites.
Admission Criteria
- If BOTH total and Business GPAs are 3.2 or higher, the applicant is admitted
- If total and/or Business GPAs are between 3.0 and 3.19, the applicant is reviewed by the Eccles School Admission Committee
- If Total GPA is less than a 3.0 and Business GPA is 3.2 or higher, the applicant is reviewed by the Eccles School Admission Committee
- If one or two pre-business courses are in-progress and BOTH total and Business GPAs are 3.4 or higher, the applicant is conditionally admitted
Apply for Major
Once admitted to Upper Division, students are declared as Business Administration majors. Students who are interested in other business majors must complete additional prerequisites from the list of Upper Division Core classes and then submit a separate major application. Students do not have to finish the Upper Division core before applying to a major, but all business students must complete all Upper Division Core classes to graduate. Students are encouraged to apply to their major as soon as they are eligible, as major courses are generally offered less frequently than Upper Division Core classes.
