Women in Leadership II

In-Person
Certificate

The Women in Leadership II certificate builds upon the foundational leadership skills taught in the Women in Leadership I certificate. Women in Leadership I focused on you as an individual leader (or self-leading). Women in Leadership II focuses on outward facing leadership: leading others and your organization.

The program is taught by women. It is a cohort-style program focused on content, networking, and community aspect, which is essential to any leader’s success. The experience will challenge how you think and provide actionable takeaways to bring back to your organization. You will review your 360° assessment results from the Women in Leadership I certificate, retake the 360° assessment to see how you have grown as a leader, and re-establish areas you want to grow in.

Participants must complete Women in Leadership I and fill out an application to be considered for this program.

There is no substitute for experience. This session is largely experiential, providing you with multiple hands-on opportunities to negotiate with different people in different contexts. You are strongly encouraged to experiment with alternative styles in this safe practice environment. An invaluable component of this will be post-negotiation discussions where you can compare your experience with others to determine the effectiveness of your approach, as well as exchanging candid feedback with your partners in the negotiations. You will experience first-hand:

• The pivotal impact of first offers
• The power of negotiating at the level of interests, instead of getting stuck on positions
• Conversational approaches that encourage people to open up and share their interests with you
• How to determine whether information is safe to reveal or not

In this session, you will learn:

• The one question you can ask a recruiter that will vastly increase the odds of them extending a job offer
• How to think beyond just salary and implement a systematic strategy to negotiate a more comprehensive compensation package. (You will receive a planning template that you can use to prepare for any negotiation.)
• How to respond to an employer who claims something is not negotiable or that they can’t meet your request
• How to set the stage to nail your next performance review

There is a fine balance between collaboration and competition. Too much collaboration and there is not enough incentive to think outside the box, too much competition and people are afraid to voice new ideas. In this course, you will learn about the science of creativity and participate in a one-of-a-kind large activity that enterprise companies use to generate quick, inexpensive, and impactful creative ideas. You will learn how to cultivate a culture of strategic goals with open outcomes and get the opportunity to participate in a facilitated small group activity focused on applying these principles to participants actual upcoming needs (product launches, go-to-market campaigns, company cultural shifts, etc.). You will leave this session with evergreen takeaways, templates and techniques you can use to improve creativity across your organization. .
