Greg Goff

Founder

Greg Goff is a native of Park City and holds both a bachelor’s and MBA from the University of Utah. He went to work for ConocoPhillips in 1981 and filled numerous positions before being named senior vice president in 2008. He joined Andeavor, formerly known as Tesoro, as president and Chief Executive Officer in May 2010 where he went on to lead its merger with Marathon Petroleum Corporation in 2019. He partnered with the David Eccles School of Business to create opportunities for young people to develop strategic leadership skills.

Ruchi M. Watson, MBA, Ed.D

Managing Director and CEO, Goff Strategic Leadership Center, Professor (Lecturer), Strategic Advisor to the Dean

Watson is thrilled to lead the team as Managing Director. She enters this position after nearly 8 years of experience as part of the Dean’s Team here at the David Eccles School of Business and almost 10 years prior to that in the corporate sector at Fortune 500 companies. She concurrently serves as faculty member in the Department of Entrepreneurship & Strategy.

Todd Zenger, PhD

N. Eldon Tanner Chair in Strategy and Strategic Leadership, Presidential Professor, Editor in Chief, Strategy Science

Zenger is the Entrepreneurship & Strategy Department Chair and the N. Eldon Tanner Chair in Strategy and Strategic Leadership at the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah. He also holds the University of Utah designation as a Presidential Professor. Zenger is a global expert in corporate strategy, organizational design and pay transparency. He is our Academic Director and leads the research and thought leadership arm of the Goff Strategic Leadership Center.

Stephanie Baugh, MA

Associate Director of Analytics and Engagement

Stephanie earned her bachelor’s in Business and Psychology from the University of Puget Sound, and her MA from Bowling Green State University. Stephanie is passionate about collaborating with partners to create sustainable and transformative learning experiences for college students. She has worked at several universities in program development and career services roles. In her current role, Stephanie coordinates initiatives with alumni and partners to create a community of lifelong leaders and learners. Outside of work, she loves being involved in her community, hiking, playing volleyball, and exploring as many new places as possible.

Maya Jolley, MPA

Director of Student Experience and Marketing + Communications, Goff Strategic Leadership Center

Dedicated to problem finding, value creation, and mentorship, Maya Jolley’s specialties are turning new, exciting ideas into realities. After receiving her Master’s in Public Administration, Maya joined the Goff Strategic Leadership Center where she directs student experiences and marketing strategy, empowering students to become value creators through experiential education. Recently recognized as one of Utah Business Magazine’s 40 under 40, Maya exemplifies the forward-thinking leadership that drives innovation and impact across the University of Utah and beyond. Outside of work, Maya enjoys cruising down to southern Utah with her husband and not-so-little puppy in their ’99 4Runner.

Sydney Smith

Senior Marketing Coordinator

Sydney is a recent graduate of the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in Entrepreneurship and Strategy, and a minor in Management. She joined the Goff student leadership team in Spring 2023 to pursue her interest in marketing and became a full-time staff member the following year. Sydney is from Utah, and enjoys cooking, exploring new coffee places, and watching movies. Passionate about Goff’s mission, she has come to realize the true impact and value it holds for students. In her role within the Goff team, Sydney focuses on expanding Goff’s presence across the U campus through both digital and traditional marketing methods. Additionally, she will be assisting with the Explorers program as a TA.

Cameron Nelson

Student Director of Outreach and Events

Cameron is in his third year at the University of Utah, studying QAMO and Information Systems. He began his involvement with the Goff Strategic Leadership Center as a Pathfinder in the fall of 2022. Since then, he has continued his involvement with the center as an ambassador, Goff Explorer, Goff Scholar, and student director of Outreach and Events on the student leadership team. His role within Goff involves working with other campus organizations, speaking to student groups, and increasing engagement, recruitment, and retention for the center’s programs. Apart from Goff, he is also an active Sigma Chi Beta Epsilon Chapter member and an intern for Banyan Ventures. In his free time, he enjoys skiing with friends, going on adventures, and attending concerts and festivals. Cameron is originally from San Diego, California, and loves returning there to recharge and enjoy the ocean.

Creed McCord

Goff Student Associate

Creed is in their final semester here at the University of Utah studying mechanical engineering with a minor in leadership. He first learned of the Goff center through his leadership courses and registered for Trailblazers in the Fall of 2022. Since then, he has been an active member of the Goff Ambassadors program by working to spread the name and value of Goff with a focus on the College of Engineering. His role as a new member of the team will be to strategically identify and pursue opportunities to integrate Goff courses within various college curriculums across campus. Outside of his involvement with the Goff Strategic Leadership Center, he has: worked as a researcher for the University’ Office of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, become a student energy consultant with the Intermountain Industrial Assessment Center, lead the Utah Student Robotics mechanical team, and act as President of the Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Student Advisory Committee. His hope is to make the world a better place for people, and he is excited about how his work with the Goff center will contribute to that goal.

Diego Alvarez

Goff Student Associate

Diego is in his third year at the University of Utah, studying marketing. He began his Goff journey with Explorers, where he was interned with PBS Utah. From there, he has joined several Goff programs, including the ambassador program, Pathfinders, Teaching Assistant for Explorers, and Trailblazers! He will be supporting Goff in working with other campus organizations, speaking to student groups, and increasing engagement, recruitment, and retention for the center’s programs. Outside of Goff, he runs the Hey U podcast for U Career Success and is Vice President for the American Marketing Association in the David Eccles School of Business. He is also a big foodie and has a plethora of food recommendation on standby.

Shannon Yanes

Goff Student Associate

Shannon is originally from Atlanta and is currently in her fourth year at the University of Utah, studying Marketing and Information Systems with a minor in Business Analytics. She began her involvement with the Goff Strategic Leadership Center as a Pathfinder in the fall of 2022. Since then, she has continued her involvement with the center as an ambassador, Goff Explorer, Goff Trailblazer and student director of Traditions on the student leadership team. Her role within Goff involves working with the ambassador program, increasing engagement, and assisting the events and outreach team. Apart from Goff, Shannon is involved all over campus as a University Ambassador giving tours, a BSG representative for the Marketing major, and as President for the AMA club at the business school. When she is not at school, Shannon enjoys playing pickleball, reading books, and attending any and all concerts.
