The MHA program is excited to introduce David Gessel as adjunct faculty. David will be team teaching our Health Economics and Policy course with Professor Norm Waitzman of the Department of Economics.
David began his career as a legislative director to a member of the U.S. Congress in Washington, D.C. He has been the vice president of government relations and the general counsel for the Utah Hospital Association where he currently serves as the executive vice president. He brings a vast array of experience in government relations, association management, political advising, law, and business.
He is a member of the Utah State Bar, the American Health Lawyers Association, the Utah Health Information Network, the Utah Foundation, the American Society of Association Executives, and is currently the board chair of Community Nursing Services. He has previously served on the boards of Mission Health Services, the University of Utah Alumni Association, and Utah Preservation.
After earning his BS in Political Science at the University of Utah, David went on to pursue an MA in Public Policy at Rutgers University. In 1991 he graduated with a JD from the University of Virginia.
