Experiential Learning
At the Eccles School, we believe that a great amount of learning occurs outside of the classroom and that hands-on participation is an integral part of the student experience. In addition to the knowledge and skills garnered through integrative experiences and internships, MHA students also are encouraged to get involved in extracurricular clubs and organizations, engage with alumni and executives, and apply their classroom skills to real-world situations.
Get Involved
The Master of Healthcare Administration Student Association (MHASA) facilitates meaningful service and networking opportunities for MHA students at the Eccles School. By collaborating with faculty and staff, association events provide professional development and explore to key healthcare administration skills.
Healthcare Case Competitions
The MHA program supports students in participating in local, regional, and national case competitions. Through case competitions, students test their knowledge outside of the classroom and increase their experience. Past student teams have succeeded competitively and gained valuable contacts.
The mission of MHA Circle is to cultivate equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) advancement in classroom, healthcare, and leadership spaces for empowered, curious, and knowledgeable students and faculty.
ACHE Leadership Congress
Each year, the MHA program provides support for select students to attend the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Leadership Congress with more than 4,000 industry professionals. Students find value in the networking, education, and innovative discussions available at the event.
The Bench-to-Bedside competition introduces medical, engineering, and business students to the world of medical-device innovation. Student teams form multidisciplinary “start-up” companies, identify an unmet clinical need, and design a medical device to solve it.

Join the UMentor Program
Form a lasting partnership with a mentor through the UMentor Healthcare Leadership program. During the program, students connect with their mentor for professional advice, explore potential career opportunities, and see how classroom knowledge is applied to the industry.
MHA students network with industry executives throughout the program, many of whom are their class instructors, present guest lectures, or join events as program advisory board members.
