Hands-on learning and networking have been emphasized in the MHA program since its inception. Whether it’s an internship, case competition or a get-together with our alumni, students are supported in experiential learning.

One of these opportunities includes attending the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Congress. ACHE is an international professional organization that aims to advance its members and healthcare management excellence. ACHE’s annual Congress event offers education, professional development and networking among healthcare executives – exactly the kind of place we encourage our students to be.

We’ve sent students to ACHE Congress for the past 10 years – each year with more success. We are particularly proud of the group that attended in 2018, of which five students received ACHE assistantships and three received scholarships from Utah Healthcare Executives. These assistantships and scholarship opportunities provide additional leadership experiences and expanded networking opportunities.

We are developing a strategy to ensure that all students who attend Congress have the best experience they can, including a mix of session attendance, site visits to local healthcare organizations, and networking.
