Health 2 Go is a community-based primary healthcare program that focuses on improving the health of communities. The program is currently implemented in two geographically diverse areas in Ghana, the Manya Krobo and Barakese Districts of Ghana. Over 20,000 community members have participated, with an emphasis on controlling diseases among children ages 0 – 5.

Health 2 Go is a proven plug-in system that brings basic health services to communities by:

• improving maternal and child health and survival rates,
• reducing the demand for institutionalized health services (reducing overall healthcare costs),
• expanding workforce capacity, and
• accelerating progress towards health-related SDGs.

Health 2 Go creates capacity for communities to be healthy, well, and self-reliant. The Health 2 Go system integrates strong consumer branding, evidence-supported training, field-tested equipment and supplies, on-going supervision, health system integration, community participation, and certification. By utilizing this proven model, Health 2 Go has demonstrated an impact on participating communities and is expanding to reach communities throughout the world.

For three years, Health 2 Go has been piloting community-based healthcare systems in the Manya Krobo and Barakese Districts of Ghana. Over 20,000 community members have participated, with an emphasis on controlling diseases among children ages 0 – 5.

​Through regular home visits over 5,000 children were assessed and over 3,500 diseases were diagnosed and treated. This eliminates the necessity of CHPS or Health Center visits, thus freeing those services up for other patients and more serious conditions. Long-term this system can reduce the need for building Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS), District Health Centers, and hospitals.

​The Health 2 Go systems overcome all known limitations of community-health worker programs via:

• Integration with existing government and communal systems
• Strong consumer recognition and acceptance
• Community-based agents (CBAs) embedded in the communities and provided with on-going supervision and education
• Community engagement
• High-quality equipment and supplies
• Controlled financial model

Health 2 Go Aims to:

• Prioritize maternal and child health while improving conditions for the entire community
• Detect disease early and treat in the community when appropriate
• Support ongoing disease prevention and health promotion
• Maintain links with the broader clinical system, especially for rural and otherwise underserved communities
