It is with sincere gratitude tinged with sadness that we announce the retirement of Scott Parker from the faculty of the David Eccles School of Business. Among other things, Scott has been instrumental in the creation and growth of our MHA program.

Scott is not only an incredibly talented healthcare administrator, having served as CEO of Intermountain Healthcare from 1975 to 1998, but he also has made a profound and lasting impact on our university, school and MHA program. Scott shared his wealth of healthcare administration knowledge with our students since he joined our faculty in 2008. He has mentored students one-on-one as they pursue their degree and then guided them toward meaningful careers. He deservedly received the inaugural David Eccles School of Business Distinguished Mentor Award in 2016 and the MHA Program Distinguished Professor Award in 2017.

His involvement in the world of healthcare over the decades is impressive, having served in dozens of roles, including the chairman for the American Hospital Association and the president of the International Hospital Association based in London, among many other professional affiliations.

Scott’s dedicated service to students through mentoring, his engagement in shaping and growing the MHA program, and his promotion of the program to his healthcare colleagues has been invaluable.

The Eccles School held a celebration dinner to honor Scott, and thank him for his many years of service to our program. You can watch the event here.
