Utah 211 is a one stop shop for all community resources surrounding basic needs support and services Supported by United Ways of Utah, this vital service is available 24/7 and confidential.

Utahns Against Hunger

Utahns Against Hunger is an anti-hunger non-profit organization working on public policy and advocacy for federal nutrition programs through consolidation of food pantries in the State and education on governmental food support programs.

Utah Food Bank

The Utah Food Bank is the state’s largest hunger relief organization. They are the best place to start in your search for food pantries, soup kitchens, supplemental food programs, and shelters.

Community Action Services and Food Bank

Located in Provo, UT, The Community Action Services and Food Bank is a nonprofit that seeks to solve poverty by providing resources to individuals and families. They offer emergency financial assistance (rent assistance, utility assistance, clothing vouchers, hotel vouchers), a food pantry, financial learning workshops, and more.

Crossroads Urban Center

Crossroads Urban Center provides emergency food assistance through their food pantry along with other basic needs support such as day bus passes, prescription assistance, gasoline vouchers, and more. Similarly, they offer advocacy and referral services to help address the underlying causes of poverty and hunger.

Discovery Christian Community – Ruth’s Kitchen Calendar

Ruth’s Kitchen is a food pantry and meal service provided by the ministry of Discovery Christian Community Church. They offer free meal/groceries to the community every Tuesday and Thursday.

Jewish Family Service

Jewish Family Service (JFS) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the Jewish and broader community in the state. They provide a food pantry, monthly social lunches, mental health counseling, emergency funding assistance, senior services, and refugee resettlement support. Similarly, they engage in community outreach and education, offer case management, and family support.

Salt Lake City Mission

Salt Lake City Mission is a non-profit Inner-City Church based Rescue Mission Ministry. They provide hot meals daily, clothing, furniture/household items, and a food pantry.

Salt Lake Baptist Association – Concern Center

The Concern Center is the benevolence arm of the churches of the Salt Lake Baptist Association and they provide a food pantry that serves families in need on a monthly or emergency basis.

St. Paul’s Food Pantry

Paul’s Food Pantry offers food for individuals, families, and pets (cats and dogs). They also provide food for cats and dogs. This pantry is open every Saturday from 9am – 12:30pm.

The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army offers a variety of basic need support such as emergency utilities funding, food assistance, hot meals, and clothing and furniture vouchers (when applicable). Hot Meals served daily Monday-Friday at 1pm and the food pantry is open Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays.

Cathedral Church of St. Mark – Food Pantry

Hildegarde’s Pantry is a ministry of the Cathedral Church of St. Mark is a food pantry open to the community Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, from 11:00-1:30 and Thursday from 5:00-6:30. Identification is required.

SNAP

SNAP serves as the first line of defense against hunger for Utah Residents. It enables low-income families to buy nutritious food with Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards at participating grocery stores.

Schedule a meeting with the University of Utah Financial Wellness Center on campus to learn how to access and apply for SNAP.

WIC (Women, Infants, Children)

This program provides nutrition education, personalized breastfeeding support, food services, and referrals to other public health programs to pregnant women, mothers, infants and children up to their 5th birthday.

Utah Community Action: Utah Community Action is an organization that provides various services to low-income individuals and families, including those at risk of homelessness. They offer emergency rental and utility assistance, case management, and other support programs.

Catholic Community Services operates the Homeless Prevention Program, which provides rental assistance to individuals and families facing eviction or housing instability. They offer short-term financial assistance to help with rent payments and can also provide case management and support services.

The Road Home

The Road Home is a nonprofit organization that operates homeless shelters and provides a range of services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. They offer emergency shelter, case management, employment assistance, housing support, and other resources.

Volunteers of America offers housing and supportive services to individuals and families experiencing homelessness. They provide an emergency shelter (The Geraldine E. King Women’s Center), transitional housing, rapid rehousing programs, and supportive services to help individuals stabilize and transition to permanent housing.

The Housing Authority of the County of Salt Lake manages affordable housing programs, including the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Program. Eligible individuals and families can receive rental assistance to help secure stable housing.
