The new academic year is off to a terrific start for the Center for Business, Health, and Prosperity.  A few of our highlights are as follows:

  • During the summer, we hosted several learning abroad programs in Ghana, including a very successful Eccles Global offering that included time in London and at the University of Oxford.
  • We have fully launched Prosperity Scholars which is our hallmark student program aimed at providing links to the latest advances in prosperity science (including many of the world-class developments at the University of Utah), becoming engaged in prosperity projects in Utah and throughout the world, creating opportunities for deeper exploration of what creates and sustains prosperity, and establishing a place to socially connect with others throughout the campus (and have fun doing it!).
  • We hosted the official groundbreaking for the Impact and Prosperity Epicenter along with our partner, the Sorenson Impact Center.
  • Over fall break, we supported the course Poverty Alleviation and Entrepreneurship over 9 days in Ghana, with four student consulting groups working with companies in the businesses of apparel and fashion, agricultural livestock, food services, and house goods sales.

We look forward to a productive year as we work on prosperity projects, including expanding Health 2 Go in Ghana and finding ways to support prosperity-oriented University of Utah projects, such as the West Valley Health and Community Center.  We continue to benefit from the vast resources of the University of Utah and its partners as we seek to advance the science and practice of prosperity promotion.  We are grateful to our many community partners who join with us in this pursuit.

I am particularly excited to join Reverend France Davis in hosting a trip to Ghana this March.  I first met Reverend Davis in Ghana in 2009 and have benefitted from his friendship and wisdom since then.  He and I are hosting a trip that will expose participants to the rich history and culture of this remarkable West African nation, will visit historical sites and gain key insights into human toll of the slave trade, get hands-on experience working on prosperity projects, and have the chance to get up close and personal with elephant herds.  We are asking participants who join us to help raise scholarship funds to make it possible for more students to access education in this region of the world.  Please reach out to us if you are interested in joining this trip – and yes, space is limited, so please contact us right away.

On behalf of our entire team at the Center for Business, Health, and Prosperity, please accept our best wishes for peace and prosperity.
