On Sept. 14, 2017, Commander David Lang visited with Scott Parker and Debra Scammon as part of U.S. Navy awareness week in Utah.

Commander Lang has had a very successful career with the U.S. Navy and is currently Director for Administration at the Naval Hospital at Camp Pendleton, CA. Prior to completing his graduate degree, he worked at LDS Hospital where he developed his passion for healthcare. He also completed an internship with the Utah Department of Health. Commander Lang joined the U.S. Navy after receiving his master’s degree and now has 17 years under his belt. During his career, he was stationed in Iceland, Hawaii and Guam and supported humanitarian assistance work in Nepal, Samoa and the Marshall Islands. He recommends a career in the U.S. Navy to MHA graduates who have an interest in traveling the world and in managing military hospitals and clinics.

Commander Lang is a native of Salt Lake City native and attended Hillcrest High School as well as the University of Utah. He received his bachelor’s degree in sociology in 1996 and his MPH with an emphasis in health services administration in 2000. His graduate emphasis was a precursor to our current MHA degree program.
