The CDC partnered with the Utah HERO project to study the spread of COVID-19 in Salt Lake County, Utah, elementary schools. They found that when students and staff wear masks and use other strategies to slow the spread of disease, transmission in schools is low, even with high community incidence, and when students were spaced a median of 3 feet apart in classrooms.
