Long-Term Care Facility (LTCF) Testing

The Utah Department of Health (UDOH) and the Health Economic and Recovery Outreach (HERO) Project at the University of Utah have partnered together to establish a project that will provide an increased understanding of the risks of COVID-19 transmission in Long-Term Care Facilities (LTCF) along the Wasatch Front.

Because UDOH remains concerned about the ongoing hazard of COVID-19 in long-term care facilities this portion of the project aims to provide guidance for policies related to these facilities. We are recruiting long-term care facilities to participate in a study of COVID antibody response, using tests that distinguish natural infection from vaccine-induced immunity.

This portion of the project currently involves completing a survey as well as providing both a saliva sample for a PCR test and a venous blood draw for an antibody test on two occasions occurring six weeks apart.

If the facility you work at is chosen to participate in the project, recruitment materials will be distributed to all staff members with details about the project.

The project will provide an incentive of a $30 gift card to each participant at the conclusion of each blood draw.
