The Eccles Experience is for everyone.
We firmly believe that as educators, our responsibility is not only to turn out the finest scholars and business leaders, but also to ensure that our students are good humans. We strive to endow our students with four core values thatwe hope they will take with them throughout their lives. We want to inspire them to be continually curious, to be empathetic global citizens, to seek ways to impact their world, and to have the entrepreneurial grit require to be true agents of change.
These core beliefs have meant the work of equity, diversity, and inclusion have long been a part of the conversation here at the David Eccles School of Business. But the events of the past year, from the racial reckoning our nation has grappled with to the widespread and inequitable impacts of the pandemic, have brought that work into sharper focus as we seek to support every part of our campus community in alignment with the entire University of Utah.
We are so proud of our vibrant, innovative and entrepreneurial community who have come together to create real and impactful change. We all have been impressed both by the number of faculty, students, and staff who wanted to participate, and also by their ideas. Together, we are working to bring equity, diversity, and inclusion to every aspect of the Eccles School. We’ve gone on a listening tour throughout the school and community. We’vepartnered with other schools, including Howard University, a historically Black university, to create more opportunities for diverse students. We’ve hosted countless events to foster inclusion and to understand how to navigate crucial conversations. And we’ve encouraged faculty research into issues impacting equity, diversity, and inclusion.
We are so encouraged by the work taking place here at the Eccles School. We have made so much progress, and we recognize that we still have room to grow. Together, we can a build a diverse, equitable future for our community. We pledge to ensure equitable systems and foster an inclusive environment for all who come to our campus.
