Jessie Rabe Hunter is graduating with an Honors Bachelor of Science in Quantitative Analysis of Markets and Organizations and minors in Economics and Political Science for her hard work with her thesis titled “Effects of British Columbia’s Carbon Tax on CO2 Emissions.” Jessie is originally from West Point, Utah and will be the Co-Director of Open Doors for All, a nonprofit organization in Guatemala, after graduation. Tell us something about your thesis – your research, your findings, or what you learned:

I did a difference in differences model comparing British Columbia’s emissions versus the rest of Canada. My results were statistically significant. So, it appears that the tax may not have been effective at reducing CO2 emissions.

What was your most memorable experience as an Eccles student?

Visiting the Federal Reserve in Washington D.C. with the Business Economics Society.
