Program Highlights
Business Career Services (MSIS)
The David Eccles School of Business offers professional career management services and an MSIS senior career coach to provide students with guidance on all aspects of building a great career. Students have access to recruiting events, an exclusive jobs database, one-on-one consultations with their career coach, and a career development course. These resources have yielded powerful results for MSIS graduates. See our most recent placements.
MSIS Capstone
MSIS students complete a capstone as the culmination of their degree. The capstone is an opportunity for students to put their classroom knowledge to work by completing a complex, consulting-based information systems project or an approved IT certification. Completed over two semesters, the capstone is worth three credit hours. Learn more about the capstone requirement.
Work-Compatible Schedule
To accommodate working professionals, MSIS courses are held in the evenings, with most starting at 6 p.m. Students also have the option to take a number of MSIS courses online and can enroll in a mix of in-person or online classes each semester.
Full-Time and Part-Time Options
MSIS students can attend the program full-time or part-time. Students attending full time complete the program in three semesters (12 months); students attending part time complete the program in four or more semesters (15 or more months). Full-time and part-time students have the same course options, and students are able to adjust their course load semester-by-semester.
Gateway to a High-Growth Industry
With an anticipated 15 percent growth in employment of computer and information systems managers from 2022 to 2032 and the expansion of Utah’s Silicon Slopes, our graduates find job opportunities at top employers from large corporations to tech-savvy start-ups. Whether you have a technical background or not, the skills earned in the MSIS program can help you advance in or enter this growing market.
Networking Opportunities
One important benefit of the program is the opportunity to build a professional network with fellow students. With the average professional work experience of MSIS students being 4 to 5 years in a wide variety of roles and sectors, students can build a diverse network that will provide support and facilitate access to opportunities throughout their careers.
