David Bauman
David Bauman is a Senior Director at CBRE and serves as the Executive Director of the Ivory-Boyer Real Estate Center. He is also an associate instructor in the Master of Real Estate Development program at the David Eccles School of Business. He received a Master of Business Administration from the University of Utah in 2011.
At CBRE, David guides corporations in their real estate decisions across their national and global portfolios of all property types – office, industrial, retail, and land. He oversees global client relations, develops transaction management strategies, and manages a team of transaction management professionals servicing clients occupying real estate throughout the globe. He has transacted well over $1 billion of real estate on behalf of clients in more than 50 countries.
David began his career in corporate real estate in 2006 and has since managed many global accounts for clients spanning private, public, and not-for-profit sectors. His experience includes market research in global cities, tenant representation, and land development and entitlements.
Previous roles in commercial real estate include similar positions with Newmark Grubb Knight Frank and NAI Global. David currently sits on the leadership board of the World Trade Center of Utah.

Darlene Carter
Darlene Carter is the CEO of the Cole West and brings over 20 years of leadership and expertise across various segments of real estate development. At the helm of strategic vision and execution the Cole West, she has played a pivotal role in steering strategy across 6 business lines totaling over $3 billion in residential development, construction, and mixed-use ventures. Carter is known in the industry for her dynamic leadership style and ability to synthesize and navigate complex real estate dynamics.
Darlene’s extensive experience demonstrates her ability to adapt to changing market trends, acquire capital, manage assets meticulously, cultivate brands, operate efficiently, and foster a vibrant organizational culture. Since starting her career in 2005 with a leading private home builder, she has consistently excelled in sales and marketing strategy and operations, making significant contributions along the way. In 2009, Darlene joined forces with Colin Wright and played a crucial role in the growth of a privately held Utah based homebuilding company. In 2017, Carter was appointed the President of Cole West by Wright and together they propelled the company from a modest portfolio to become a dominant force in Utah RE development with over 250 active or completed residential projects, the delivery of 5000 plus lots, the development of 30+ retail spaces, and a workforce of over 130 employees.
Darlene has a bachelor’s degree in Public Relations from Utah State University, a MRED from University of Utah and has been a licensed broker since 2005.
Darlene is engaged in the community and serves on the boards of ULI Utah and Envision Utah, and previously co-chaired the SLC Downtown Alliance Development Committee. Passionate about nurturing emerging talent, she actively contributes to education initiatives, serving as a University of Utah Ivory Boyer Real Estate Board member and an adjunct professor in the MRED program.

Rocky Derrick
Rocky Derrick is the Co-Founder and Managing Director of Taylor Derrick Capital, a reputable real estate investment firm based out of Salt Lake City, where he has led the investment of over $2.3B in debt/equity. Mr. Derrick takes an active role overseeing underwriting, portfolio management and investor relations. He is committed to creating and fostering long-standing relationships with borrowers, development partners and investors.
Prior to TDC, Mr. Derrick founded Derrick Development, a real estate consulting firm that advised multiple REITs, equity funds, lenders, developers and institutional asset managers. Additionally, he worked as the Senior Vice President of Loan Origination & Asset Management for CM Capital Services in Las Vegas, Nevada during the real estate recession, managing the workouts and repositioning of over $600MM in distressed loans. Preceding that, Mr. Derrick was the Vice President of Acquisitions & Development for Seegmiller Partners where he managed the development of over $100MM in commercial projects in Nevada and California.
Mr. Derrick holds a master’s degree in real estate development from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Utah, where he is currently an adjunct professor inthe Eccles School Master of Real Estate Development (MRED) program.

Andra Ghent
Andra Ghent is a Professor of Finance at the University of Utah where she holds the Ivory-Boyer Chair in Real Estate in Summer 2021. She is the Academic Director of the Ivory-Boyer Real Estate Center. Her current research interests are real estate finance, financial intermediation, and urban economics. Her research has been cited in U.S. congressional testimony and by media outlets such as The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, Forbes, and Bloomberg. Her research has been published in top academic journals such as the Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Urban Economics, Management Science, the Review of Economic Studies, and the Review of Financial Studies. She is an Associate Editor at the Review of Financial Studies and the Journal of Financial Economics. She teaches courses on housing affordability and real estate finance. Benjamin Hart
Benjamin Hart serves as the executive director of the Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) after
being appointed by the UIPA board in September, 2022. During his tenure at UIPA Hart has prioritized economic optimization with port facility development, along with strong internal controls and transparency for the organization. Under his leadership the Port is focused on statewide, along with regional projects and ensuring world-class global access for Utah businesses.
Prior to his position at UIPA, Hart served as the deputy director of the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity (Go Utah). During his time at Go Utah, Hart oversaw The Unified
Economic Opportunity Commission, corporate recruitment efforts, international and diplomatic responsibilities, small business programs and statewide workforce partnerships.
Prior to his time at Go Utah, Hart served as the director of employer initiatives for the
Department of Workforce Services, the CDBG and Economic Development administrator at Layton City, and in underwriting at Zions Bank.
Hart has served on numerous statewide and national government and trade association boards during his career. He completed both his undergraduate and graduate studies at the University of Utah, where he currently serves as an adjunct instructor. Hart lives in Layton, Utah with his wife and three kids.

Jeremy Krause
Jeremy owns Kanyon Construction and Krause Development, specializing in designing, developing, and constructing single-family homes, commercial properties, and multi-family assets. He oversees the entire development process and company operations.
Since founding Kanyon Construction in September 2020, the company has experienced steady growth completing over $132 million in projects. They have completed several single family, multifamily, and commercial development projects. They have also completed strategic acquisitions in the existing asset space.
With a lifelong career in construction, Jeremy played a key role in building J Fisher’s Strategic Builders before launching Kanyon. He has overseen over $400 million in projects across the Wasatch Front, leveraging expertise in preconstruction, building systems, and delivery methods.

Danny Wall
Mr. Wall comes to the University of Utah after a decade in the real estate field, where he did appraisals, consulting, commercial lending, and commercial brokerage. He has spent the past seven years as a full-time appraiser and consultant, working in brokerage in Boise, lending in Denver, and as a product developer for Deckers Outdoor Corporation in California. Wall’s primary focus has been forensic appraisal and consulting, and he’s applied that focus to a wide range of markets and property types, including large industrial and manufacturing operations, large land-development projects, special-use facilities, commercial and residential properties, and recreational and resort properties. He’s been tapped for expert analysis in tax disputes, damage claims, bankruptcy cases, estate-planning, and other areas.

Danny Woodbury
Danny Woodbury oversees all leasing efforts of Woodbury Corporation across its office and retail portfolio. His role extends into development and acquisitions and he works as a project lead on several developments.
