What was your most memorable experience as an Eccles student?

I do not have just one great memory but countless unforgettable events throughout my four years at the David Eccles School of Business. Receiving this award brings back those memories… The excitement of being a Business Scholar and going to New Orleans, Louisiana. The opportunity of being an officer in Beta Alpha Psi and attending the 100th anniversary conference in Chicago. The late nights and weekends spent studying in the business building. The amazing professors who were always willing to help me learn and succeed. The wonderful friends who support and motivate me. This award is a culmination of all those memories and a reminder of the most incredible years of my life, doing the things I love, and for that, I am eternally grateful.

What clubs, competitions, and/or activities did you participate in?

Beta Alpha Psi – I became a member my junior year and the Vice President of Marketing and Technology my senior year. I was also majoring in Ballet for 3.5 years until injuries prevented me from completing the major. But, I was able to receive a minor! I was also a part of Transfer Business Scholars, a social media ambassador for the University’s Marketing and Communications office my freshman and sophomore years, in The National Society of Leadership and Success, and an avid Utah football fan.

What was your favorite class?

I cannot choose just one, so here are my top 3: International Accounting, Taxation, and Advanced Financial Accounting!

Is there anyone you’d like to thank, acknowledge or shout out?

My parents and sister – for absolutely everything. Reyn Gallacher – my first accounting teacher at the U! I already knew I wanted to be an accounting major, so when he told me I was a natural, it solidified it was the career choice for me! Michael Lewis – for reinforcing my love of accounting, for providing me with a job, and for the constant laughs, support, and motivation. Marci Butterfield & Paige Witt – for being the most incredible and inspiring mentors one could ever ask for. Daniel Wallwitz – for competing with me in basically every aspect of life and constantly pushing me to be better. And Emily Black, Nellie Webb, Lauren Wattenburg, Will Sala, and Nolan Faley. I also would like to thank all of the professors I have ever had both in and outside the business school. But especially my accounting professors – I could not have achieved this without all of you!
