Tuition and Financial Aid

Resident Students

Estimated Tuition Costs

Full-Time $33,900
Part-Time $37,300

Non-Resident/International

Estimated Tuition Costs

Full-Time $54,000
Part-Time $66,100

The above costs reflect the estimated tuition and fees for all required credit hours, based on the most common program sequences, taken over the course of three semesters (full-time) or five semesters (part-time). Program cost may vary depending on program sequencing. Tuition estimates do not include any co-requisites.

International non-resident students are required to attend the program full-time (9 credits minimum). All non-resident students pay resident tuition and fees for the summer semester.

Tuition rates may change without notice. Generally, if tuition and fees increase, it occurs prior to the start of the summer semester each year. This information comes from the University of Utah’s Income Accounting and Student Loan Services, which has the most current information.

Student Loans

There are many student loan programs available to help finance graduate education. Loan programs of particular interest to graduate students are:

  • Federal Direct Loans
  • Direct Graduate PLUS Loans
  • Private Education Loans

Applicants can apply for most loans through the University of Utah Financial Aid and Scholarships Office.

To begin the process of applying for federal assistance, fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

Additional Financial Aid Resources

  • FinAid offers detailed financial aid information
  • FastWeb allows students to efficiently search scholarships

International Students

Applicants requiring a visa to attend school in the U.S. unfortunately are not eligible for U.S. federal financial aid. To fund their education, many international students take education loans from their home country or have family members financially support them during their studies.

Additionally, we offer scholarships for international students to cover most of the non-resident portion of tuition.

Resources for Veterans

The University of Utah’s Veterans Support Center provides many resources to veterans and can answer questions about veteran financial assistance, including VA Benefits.
