Beauty Bus Co.: Bringing the elegance and delight of the salon to your front door

Sarah is an experienced hair and makeup artist and has worked in the beauty industry for over 12 years. Her first foray into events came through her experience at a blow dry bar in Australia, where she would get people ready for birthday and bachelorette parties. Moving to LA in 2019, the scale of the events she was involved in expanded. Working with Netflix, she glammed executives and talent for high end events like the Golden Globes, Oscars, SAG Awards, Toronto & Sundance Film Festivals. Even working with high-end clients, Sarah found it difficult to curate the ambiance and feel of a luxurious salon experience when setting up in client’s homes.

Her Doman S23 project, Beauty Bus Co., brings a hair and makeup experience to clients that doesn’t just set them up for the event, but is part of the event. As a yoga teacher in training, Sarah understands the experience that a space can create. Life is about “being your highest self and fulfilling your purpose. We talk about intention in yoga and I feel like I am applying that to my business.” Working with clients during some of their most meaningful moments, Sarah knows the importance of honesty, loyalty and authenticity. Sarah is currently crafting a shared organizational vision and culture as she brings new members to the team. Being part of the S23 cohort gives Sarah the opportunity to share her vision more publicly, and figure out what is negotiable and what isn’t. Sarah believes that success comes from being flexible on the details and true to the core vision. Throughout this entrepreneurial process, she has learned to notice the feeling you get if you start bending on things you don’t want to.

Learning and growing as a leader // 5.25.23

Sarah sees the value in growing her network and has found such power in the sense of community she has found through Doman. As she prepares to launch her company in summer of 2023, sharing ideas, concepts and thoughts about Beauty Bus Co. publicly with other entrepreneurs and getting critical feedback from fresh eyes has been beneficial. The weekly check-ins have improved her accountability and organization as she prepares to be a leader in her industry.

Important partnerships // 2.20.22

The first step in getting this business started was partnering with a reliable bus vendor, which Sarah found in Apex Customs, located in Ogden, Utah. It was important to Sarah that they were a local, small business as she intends to support and partner with other fellow small businesses throughout this journey. This partnership will be valuable to the company as she proves the concept and expands the business.

Creating the experience through Experience // 4.2.91

Sarah’s career has been unfolding as she has experienced different avenues of the beauty industry for the last 12 years, and ultimately found her specialty in working high end events and weddings. She has collected skills through various education programs, grown connections with high end clientele and businesses, and practiced communication tools along the way that have shaped her and given her the confidence to venture into starting her own business. Through her freelance work, she has seen first hand the need and want for more of an experience based beauty service offering and she is excited to bring that to the bridal/ event industry.
