Women in Business

The Women in Business (WIB) group at the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business is an undergraduate student organization that focuses on the authentic experience of different gender identities in the business school. The purpose of this group is to provide a safe and inclusive place for all students in a diverse and intersectional community. We Believe

  • That hate speech has no place in our community, in accordance with the University of Utah’s policy and value.
  • In intentionally fostering conditions that make excellence achievable for all students.
  • In the necessity of peer-reviewed and empirical research that shows the value in equitable representation, supported by the U’s Institutional Review Board.
  • Diversity is good business, and that embracing diverse and inclusive practices makes us individually and collectively stronger, as evidenced in McKinsey & Company’s Women in the Workplace 2020 report.
  • In supporting equity for all marginalized identities through allyship, advocacy, and education.
  • In the power and importance of women’s voices in our workplaces and communities.
  • In supporting under-represented students by providing programming and support with a focus on intersectional experiences.
  • Historically and at present, women experience discrimination in ways that can impact their wages, opportunities, bodies, families, identities, and experiences.
  • Our abilities as students and business leaders should not be defined by our biological sex, gender identification, race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or physical disabilities.
  • We still have work to do for Women in the Workplace.

We recognize and appreciate diversity as a crucial element of our campus. We endeavor to create and enhance opportunities for students from all backgrounds and identities to feel welcome and engage fully as members of the David Eccles School of Business and the wider University of Utah community.
