Jacob joined Business Career Services as a career coach for the Eccles School Information Systems and Business Administration majors in October 2019. He graduated with a BA in English language and linguistics and an MA in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) from Brigham Young University. A passionate advocate for educational equity and college access for diverse populations, Jacob has worked as adjunct faculty in intensive English programs, program coordinator for a community-based English program, and outreach specialist for the Utah Higher Education Assistance Authority.
Jacob was born and raised in Millcreek, Utah. He has lived in Thailand and has traveled extensively. He speaks Thai, Spanish, some American Sign Language, and a few words in Welsh and Vietnamese. In his spare time, he serves on the board of directors for the English Skills Learning Center. He enjoys trying new recipes (especially for Thai food), swimming, and finding new ways to properly caffeinate himself. Jacob lives in Millcreek with his husband and their rescue miniature poodle mix, Chowder.
