Economic development continues to be among the greatest challenges of the 21st century. Many countries around the globe are tackling those issues, and Ghana is one of the leaders. Ghana is relatively small, but it is one of the leading nations in the African continent because of its abundant natural wealth and its history of being the first Sub-Saharan African nation to achieve independence. In this exclusive program, learn about Poverty Alleviation & Entrepreneurship and Ghana in a 10-week course, then visit over Fall Break (Oct. 6-Oct. 15, 2023)!

Click here for more information on processing times. Students are are also responsible for to provide proof of all immunizations required for entry to Ghana. Visit the University of Utah’s Travel Clinic to find out what shots are needed and obtain all necessary immunizations.
Learn, get hands-on experience, and explore!
Students take ENTP 5800: Poverty Alleviation and Entrepreneurship (3 credits) during Fall Semester and take a week-long trip to Ghana, Africa during Fall Break. During this trip, student teams work with small- or medium-sized Ghanaian companies in addressing real business problems and questions. The week ends with a with a two-day visit to an elephant preserve. Travel dates are Oct. 7-Oct. 16, 2022.

Program Fee
$3,850
Scholarships are available through the Prosperity Scholars Student Expereince – email bhp@utah.edu to learn how to get involved with Prosperity Scholars
The program has limited enrollment. Fee includes tuition for three credit hours, airfare, in-country transportation, hotels, food, and travel insurance.
Not included: cost of your shots, passport and visa, and any incidentals such as souvenirs.
