We are looking for a dynamic, results-driven individual to join as a Staff Accountant to execute a broad array of accounting activities (transactional and supervisory). This role will focus on ensuring the daily, monthly, and annual accounting transactions (excluding accounts receivable and payable) are recorded completely and accurately and that reviews are performed to validate that both internal and external stakeholders can efficiently and effectively substantiate the amounts recorded. The Staff Accountant will also assist with new accounting standard implementations, build-out/execution of financial control processes, and implementation of a Business Services Center team to support the core responsibilities of the division.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Prepare daily and monthly account reconciliations for the plants within the division.
- Understand and keep up to date with corporate accounting policies and ensure they are followed consistently.
- Analyze new or unusual transactions and identify the appropriate recognition in the general ledger.
- Coach and supervise member(s) of our Business Service Center to execute daily and monthly accounting activities.
- Analyze intercompany balances and execute the related settlement and reconciliation processes.
- Collaborate with the cost accountant to obtain necessary information to record capital projects and expenditures in the general and subledgers.
- Assist in the company’s annual audit/review processes.
- Assist in the preparation of reporting and compliance with state and local tax requirements in each location.
- Assist with plant-level and corporate-level special projects and implementation of new accounting standards financial controls, etc.
- When necessary, serve as a backup for other team members (e.g., AR, AP, Bank Management).
Education and Skills
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field (e.g., Finance).
- At least 2 years of experience in industry or public accounting.
- Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
- Strong attention to detail, superior organizational skills, and strong communication skills
- Ability to act independently and prioritize responsibilities and tasks.
- Must be highly computer literate with data mining and ERP systems.
Preferred
- Accounting/financial analysis experience within a manufacturing company, preferably in the medical device industry.
- Experience with NetSuite as an ERP.
- Experience with state and local tax requirements and reporting.
- Experience working with a non-US-based shared service center.
- CPA and/or CMA certification (active or inactive).
