Timing:  The stock is trading off its six month low.
Reason:  AMD designs and produces semiconductors. The company competes in both the processor and graphics areas. It sells products to OEMs. After a number of years of poor performance and extremely high debt levels, the company has brought on new management and is exhibiting increased fiscal discipline. We believe that the market has not yet factored in the new culture. We also believe that the company has an attractive product mix.

Timing:  The price has been declining for some time.
Reason:  AMD was one of our worst performers over the last year in this portfolio. The company has negative earnings. We needed to sell something to generate cash before the September 1 rebalancing date.
