Hay Soe is a recent graduate (Fall 2022) with a double major in philosophy and entrepreneurship. He has made the most of his college experience by getting involved in several clubs and organizations, including the Philosophy Club, Prosperity Scholars, Entrepreneurship Club, Domains Innovation Studios, Karen Cultural Organization of Utah, Youthlinc, and Bridging Borders.
Soe’s favorite college experience was working with Youthlinc as a Real Life Intern. He got to work with kids from refugee and at-risk populations and teach them life skills, basic financial literacy, and other fun activities. Another highlight was the Poverty Alleviation & Entrepreneurship Experience through Eccles Global. “I got to not only learn about innovative theories but put them into practice when we went to Ghana to work with local startups,” said Zoe.
After college, he plans to work at Youthlinc, finish a book he’s been writing, and develop his new business, Pax-Amar. Pax-Amar is linked to one of Soe’s passions and is a social enterprise that uses nature to inspire hope and healing. Pax-Amare aims to “help those facing mental challenges due to stress and anxiety in poverty-stricken areas in northern Thailand,” says Soe, “And to alleviate poverty and support businesses for indigenous people who are vulnerable to human trafficking.”
When asked what advice he would give to his fellow peers, Soe says, “Make friends with your professors and fellow students. Not all will click with you, but those that do will become a part of your network and relationships that will last beyond college. It is always better to have good people around.”
Hay Soe is an exemplary student, and we congratulate him on graduating and wish him the best of luck with his new career, book, and business. His journey through college and entrepreneurial efforts are a great example of all students’ possibilities and opportunities at the Eccles School.
“Make friends with your professors and fellow students. Not all will click with you, but those that do will become a part of your network and relationships that will last beyond college.”
