MHA Program Leadership
Previously he served as the Vice President for Academic Affairs at the University of Utah Asia Campus (UAC) located at the Incheon Global Campus in Songdo, Korea and concurrently served as a professor on the faculty of the Division of Public Health in the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine in the School of Medicine.
Dr. Walson has a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and specializes in healthcare strategy, organizational development, and leadership. In addition, he earned a bachelor and master degree from Brigham Young University.
Scott Parker joined the University of Utah after spending more than 35 years in healthcare administration. Scott was the founding Chief Executive Officer of Intermountain Healthcare and served as president and CEO for 23 years.
Prior to his role as CEO, he spent 13 years as a hospital administrator in Minnesota, Arizona and California. Scott joined the MHA program as an adjunct professor of management in 2009.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Utah and a Master of Hospital Administration degree from the University of Minnesota.
Joseph Horton brings extensive experience in healthcare administration to the MHA program, including nearly 30 years with Intermountain Healthcare. He served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer of Primary Children’s Medical Center for 22 years before being named Senior Vice President of Hospital Operations for Intermountain Healthcare and taking responsibility of 23 hospitals.
Joseph joined the David Eccles School of Business as an adjunct professor in 2012 and teaches leadership and ethics.
He received his Bachelor’s of Arts in English from the University of Utah and his Master of Hospital Administration from the University of Minnesota.
