Rohit Aggarwal honored as Eccles School’s inaugural ‘Researcher of the Month’

Rohit Aggarwal, a professor in the Department of Operations and Information Systems as well as a David Eccles Emerging Scholar, has been selected as the David Eccles School of Business’s “Researcher of the Month” for October 2025.

Professor Aggarwal joined the University of Utah as an assistant professor in 2008, after earning his Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut. He subsequently earned associate professor status in 2015 and became a full professor in 2023.

His research explores how artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and human expertise can mutually enhance each other in organizational settings. Part of this entails exploring AI’s role in enhancing learning, skill development, and productivity within organizations; another component focuses on improving AI systems by embedding human insights to enhance their performance and transparency.

Among his recent work is a co-authored working paper: “Producing AI Zombies: How AI Augmentation may Enhance Performance while Limiting Human Capital Development.” Professor Aggarwal presented the paper at Wharton’s 18th Annual People and Organizations Conference on Sept. 19-20. It has also been nominated for Best Paper at the Strategic Management Society’s 45th Annual Conference, to be held in San Francisco from Oct. 11-14.

Congratulations to Professor Aggarwal.
