Eccles School Week 2017
Eccles School Week is an annual event held each spring that works to capture the momentum of the David Eccles School of Business. We honor the five values of the Eccles School that embrace the bright future of the school and its students, faculty, staff and alumni. During the week, we honor the tenets of innovation, transformation, scholarship, entrepreneurship and community. You can read all about these values here. During the week, which runs Feb. 13 through 17, students are invited to participate in myriad events that celebrate these values.
On Monday, students recently accepted into upper division will meet with Dean Taylor Randall, learn about our core principles and receive their David Eccles Coin. In the lobby, students have the opportunity write a Valentine expressing their appreciation to a staff or faculty member at the Eccles School. Students can also learn about scholarships and other opportunities throughout the day.
Tuesday is all about love ❤️. We encourage you to wear red and follow along with the conversation on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook as members of our community share what they love about the Eccles School. And if you love entrepreneurship and free advice, check out the Hours with Experts at the Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute.
Fashion literally takes center stage on Wednesday as the school hosts its first Eccles School Fashion Week! The all-inclusive event will show students what the recommended dress code is for a variety of industries. The “week” consists two fashion shows, one at 4 p.m. and one at 7 p.m. in the Bill and Pat Child Family Community Hall on the 7th floor of the SFEBB. Refreshments will be served. For details and to RSVP please register for the free events here. Students are volunteering as models, stylists, hair and make up artists, photographers, facilitators and hosts. Students will get the opportunity to interact and ask questions after the show to understand what appropriate dress looks like in several different sectors. The event is sponsored by the Eccles School, Banana Republic, Brooks Brothers, NIYA Model Management, and True Gentleman Suit Company.
On Thursday, student leaders will be empowered to intervene in (and prevent) potentially harmful situations at the Bystander Education Training. The Eccles School works diligently to help create a safe community for all students and equip them with a skill set to help their peers.
The week culminates on Friday with the Eccles Career Summit. The event, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m, is a day of inspiration, motivation and creative lectures by a variety of business professionals. At the event, students will attend breakout sessions tailored to their major and TED Talk-inspired lightning rounds. Attendees will spend the day networking, exploring career paths and finding inspiration to further their careers. Visiting companies include CHG Healthcare, Oracle, Adobe, inWhatLanguage, Association Panel, Graduation Alliance, CR England, Jive Communications and Cotopaxi.
The David Eccles School of Business truly embraces the ideas of innovation, transformation, scholarship, entrepreneurship and community and this week represents and embraces all of the great things the school has to offer.
