A “circuit breaker” for COVID-19 is happening over the next two weeks. All instruction and student services are moving online from Sunday, Sept. 27-Sunday, Oct. 11 to allow for a two-week reset for quarantine and to accommodate security needs for the U.S. Vice Presidential debate.

All University of Utah buildings, including all Eccles School buildings, will be locked during this two-week time frame with access granted only to those who have ID cards programmed to allow them in. The only exceptions are housing, the Union, and University of Utah Health Clinics. The Union will be accessible only to those with a valid University of Utah ID. The Marriott Library will be closed during this two-week period.

From Monday, Oct. 5 – Wednesday, Oct. 7, campus will be even more locked down as the Vice Presidential debate takes place on Wednesday, Oct. 7. Watch the debate, the only Vice Presidential debate ahead of the election, to learn more about the candidates and their proposed policies. If you haven’t registered to vote,  you can learn more about registering to vote in Utah here.

If you don’t live on campus, please stay off-campus physically during the next two weeks, and please continue to access your classes and student services virtually.

Everyone should continue to practice social distancing, wear a mask, wash your hands regularly, and stay home if you are not feeling well or have any COVID-19 symptoms. Do what we need to do to combat the spike in cases we are seeing in Utah by practicing common-sense safety measures to slow the spread of COVID-19 and allow everyone to come back to campus healthy and strong.
