Editor’s Note: The David Eccles School of Business is celebrating Black History Month by sharing the successes of Black business leaders who have made big impacts in the business world.
Michelle Love-Day has been an impactful educator for the past 18 years. In her work, she has strived to create a schooling environment that is student-focused, equitable, and a place where students know they have an adult they know they can believe in. She founded the Rise Virtual Academy, “a place where students will learn Black History, their role in their community, their worth, beauty, and #blackgirlmagic and #blackboyjoy.” She also does a lot of work with her business, Love-Day Educational Consulting, LLC, where she shares her knowledge on ways parents can work with schools or advocate for their children, and with schools on how they can create a culturally welcome environment that promotes anti-bias in their schools.
She earned her bachelor’s in K-8 Education and master’s in K-12 Reading from Bowling Green State University in Ohio before relocating to Utah in 2005 to begin her Master’s in Administration from the University of Utah. Currently, Love-Day serves on several boards, including the University of Utah College of Education Board, the Hale Centre Theater Board of Trustees, and the Access to Justice Commission.
Anna Terry is a Marketing and Information Systems student at the David Eccles School of Business. She currently serves as an intern for the Marketing + Communications team.
