Disco: A new platform for music discourse

Whether it was her family’s move from El Salvador to the US, navigating college during the pandemic, or launching her own businesses, Giselle Arias has always been fearless and seized opportunity. Joining Doman put Giselle in a network of likeminded peers,  something she was familiar with from her experience as an Opportunity Scholar and as a mentor in the First Gen Scholars program. Gisselle’s current project is Disco, a platform for connection and discourse for music lovers. “I wanted to remember how I felt when I heard a line for the first time. What if I created a space where this could happen?” Combining artistic creativity with entrepreneurship is nothing new for her- often, her creative urges have led her to new business ideas. Although she’s studying information and systems analysis, Gisselle’s past work in marketing and design gives her a creative outlet. Deeply passionate about music and the stories told through it, Gisselle’s work on Disco brings a piece of her core identity to her project. At Doman, Gisselle works with a network of other entrepreneurs who are exploring how personal passions can grow into a public-facing project. In this community, Gisselle has a community of peers to help navigate the space where the person ends and the project begins.
