Our Eccles Experience is stronger together.

Monday, April 19

Dear Eccles School Students,

Ramadan Mubarak! Last week, Ramadan started, and we want to wish everyone in our community who celebrates a happy Ramadan. As a part of the sacred month, our practicing community members may be abstaining from food and water while the sun is up. You are welcome to reach out to the Office for Student Inclusion at StudentInclusion@Eccles.Utah.edu to discuss religious-based accommodations.

Integrating EDI topics throughout classroom assignments and curriculum was the common theme in last week’s discussion with students around Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Does that resonate with you? We are so grateful for the robust and vibrant dialogue that our students are having on topics such as further transparency about EDI efforts in the Eccles School, and finding ways to further support and amplify our affinity-based student groups.

Our EDI work will continue through the summer and into the fall. We recognize that not everyone will be joining us for summer classes, and we can’t wait to have you back in the fall so that – together – we can continue to make Eccles a more inclusive and welcoming community for all.

Best,
Taylor

Dear Eccles School Students,

I hope you are doing well and staying healthy.

I know this is a tumultuous time, and it is one that is bringing about much-needed dialogue and change across the country focused on racial equity. The Eccles School leadership supports this movement, and we stand in solidarity against racism and injustice. We also recognize that as future business leaders, Doers in our communities, and empathetic global citizens, together we can and will do more to make our campus a place that is safe and equitable for all of our students, staff, and faculty … [View email]

Dear Eccles School Students,

Our hearts weigh heavy by the acts of racism that we have witnessed. The tragic deaths of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, and Ahmaud Arbery, as well the national outcry in response remind us of the persistent injustice that threatens the lives of black people across our country. We all have experienced fear and uncertainly because of COVID-19, however, the anger and trauma, fear and frustration felt by many — especially our black students, staff, and faculty — is profound … [View email]
