Michael Hogue

Michael Hogue serves as a senior research statistician, specializing in energy and natural resource economics and applied econometrics.

Mr. Hogue’s recent work includes assisting in the analysis of the transfer of federal lands to the State of Utah, several publications in the Utah Economic and Business Review, the creation of an Economic and Statistical Working Paper Series that has focused on multivariate small-area estimation with shrinkage covariance matrices and two-tiered domain composite estimation modeling. After the University of Utah joined the PAC12 athletic conference, Mr. Hogue completed an economic impact analysis that examined the financial benefit to the state of Utah.

Mr. Hogue holds a B.A. in both Mathematics and Economics, and an M.A. in Economics from Mississippi State University. He is currently completing his Master’s in Statistics and Ph.D in Economics at the University of Utah. Mr. Hogue also teaches mathematics and statistics as an Instructor for the University of Utah’s Department of Economics.
