Levi Pace is a senior research economist for the economics and public policy team at the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute. He conducts analyses on behalf of community stakeholders to learn more about Utah’s economy. He has co-authored reports on the economic and fiscal impacts of the life sciences and defense sectors. Other research areas include healthcare, education outcomes, family and consumer economics, state and local tax policy, public lands, veterans and retirees.

Dr. Pace teaches quantitative methods in the University of Utah’s Master of Public Policy program. Prior to joining the Gardner Policy Institute, he taught economic history and theory courses at the University of Utah, Weber State University and Westminster College. His contributions to academic research include an article on federal land management in “Land Economics” and a chapter on consumer bankruptcy in the “Handbook of Consumer Finance Research.”

Dr. Pace earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Alice Lloyd College, an MBA from the University of Kentucky, and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Utah. During graduate school, he was a research assistant for the Utah State Legislature’s Office of Legislative Research and General Counsel.
