Is the MAcc Intensive right for you?

This unique program is designed for students with degrees in areas other than accounting.  Students complete accounting prerequisites in one summer (May through August) and then enter either the full-time or part-time MAcc program. 

The MAcc Intensive program provides in-depth background in key accounting areas. Students take 15 credit hours. Those who earn a 3.2 at the end of the program may enter the MAcc program in the fall. Students may not work during the MAcc Intensive program.

Graduates from this program are very attractive to recruiters since they often have added maturity and a diversified background. All students completing the MAcc Intensive and the MAcc program have been placed in career positions.


Admissions into the MAcc Intensive program is a rigorous process, but our advisors are here to help. Students must have a bachelor’s degree from an approved institution, take the GMAT (score of 550 or higher preferred) and complete an introductory financial accounting course with a B or better.


Coursework in the MAcc Intensive program will depend on a student’s background but will likely include the following:

For Those with U.S. Undergraduate Degrees Other than Accounting:

  •     ACCTG 6711: Financial Accounting I
  •     ACCTG 6712: Financial Accounting II
  •     ACCTG 6720: Cost/Managerial Accounting
  •     ACCTG 6731: U.S. Tax
  •     ACCTG 6750: Auditing & Accounting Information Systems

Students must complete ACCTG 5130: Financial Accounting III as an elective during the MAcc program.
