At the David Eccles School of Business, we keep a careful pulse on industry happenings, student feedback and opportunities for up-and-coming undergraduates. Recently, the Master of Accounting (MAcc) program has made a few programmatic changes in order to better align certain aspects of the program with industry and student needs.

Part-Time Scholarships Now Available

Fall 2018 part-time students will be eligible for scholarship consideration. The part-time program allows students to work full-time while attending evening classes. Previously, this group of students did not have wide access to scholarship funding. Students can now choose to earn their MAcc at a full- or part-time pace and have the same scholarship opportunities. Learn more about MAcc scholarships.

Academic Performance Scholarship Available for Top Students*

Fall 2018 students who achieve a 3.95 or higher accounting GPA** in their undergraduate degree are now eligible to receive a half-tuition scholarship for the MAcc program. Students who complete the accounting prerequisites at any regionally accredited U.S. university will be considered for this scholarship. Thanks to generous funding at the Eccles School, the MAcc program is able to better recognize and reward top-performing undergraduate students. Students who feel they may qualify should contact MAcc admissions coordinator Brittany Wonsor at Brittany.Wonsor@Eccles.Utah.edu. Students who qualify for this scholarship may also be eligible for the preferential or fast track application processes.

MAcc Opportunity Scholarship Available for Those with Significant Financial Need*

The MAcc Opportunity Scholarship is a half-tuition scholarship for students experiencing significant financial need which has impacted the attainment of their education. Two recipients are chosen each academic year by a selection committee. This scholarship requires a separate application process that will be e-mailed to current or in-progress applicants, or upon request. The following information will be taken into consideration during the selection process: 1) The student’s response to the application essay questions 2) A review of their completed FAFSA on file with the University of Utah, 3) First-generation status and 4) Participation in programs and/or fellowships that support lower socioeconomic, underrepresented or marginalized populations.

*If the recipients of these scholarships have been previously awarded an academic or merit scholarship from the department in the application process, the MAcc Opportunity and Academic Performance Scholarships will supplement the remaining amount needed to equal half tuition.

** For the purpose of this scholarship, the accounting GPA consists of the MAcc prerequisites courses, with the exception of Financial Accounting III or equivalent course. Repeated courses will not be considered.
