Last month, Corporate Outreach and Business Career Services hosted the HireU Accounting and Finance Fair. The event was a chance for students to connect with 15 potential future employers at companies such as Wells Fargo, Zions Bank, CHG Healthcare and C.R. England.

“Our drive to provide employers unique and effective engagement opportunities is beautifully illustrated in the HireU event,” said Kathryn Abby, assistant dean for Corporate Outreach and Business Career Services. “We love the small, industry-focused format and the opportunity for discussions to be less formal and more productive. Truly a win for all parties!”

HireU benefits both the students and the companies that attend by providing a setting for career-connecting conversations.

Tyler Ball, controller at Republic Services, views hiring top talent as a priority.

“Within a 2-hour window at HireU, we connected with over 60 quality candidates, set up interviews and filled an open position within two weeks with a student that we met at the event.”

He plans to return to HireU in the future to repeat that success.

“This was our first time coming to an event like this at the U, and it exceeded our expectations,” added Joseph Morgan, associate at Continental Bank. “We ended up chatting with over two dozen candidates and got resumes from [a] dozen or so more.”
